The mission of NY Indivisible is to hold elected and appointed officials accountable for protecting the rights of all people and to support legislators at all levels of government who value people over party. NY Indivisible, an organization by the people and for the people, does this by engaging citizens to monitor, report and take action on the comments and votes of legislators to ensure transparency and inclusiveness for all.
Meetings We hold regular meetings and share information over several channels in order to keep our members engaged and activated. Please see the calendar for our next meeting (on Wednesday).
Coordinated Phone Calls Every day, there’s a new reason to call our reps. We coordinate to make phone calls to our reps on specific legislation and appointments, news, and other important issues. There are several organizations that help us track important issues and provide us with sample scripts and strategies:
Visiting our Reps When a town hall or other occasion to meet with our representatives presents itself, we make a plan to show up with our talking points ready and are sure to invite the media. Sometimes, we visit our reps’ office to speak to someone face to face. We CAN send a small team, with better chances of getting into the office, to help be our voice. We try to document everything, which helps us project our message as well as our representatives’ response to us.
Showing Up Many of us participate in demonstrations and marches. There is mounting evidence that the kind of popular pressure these activities put on our representatives is working. The power of the people is making a difference! Here are some outside groups maintaining databases of demonstrations, marches, and protests.
